W4V

On May 24, 1607 the Virginia Company of London established the first permanent English settlement in North America at Jamestown Island. This location is on the James River near present day Jamestown, Virginia.

To commemorate the 400 year anniversary of the founding of Jamestown, the Central Virginia Contest Club used the callsign W4V from March 10-25 and May 12-27 2007.

The photograph on this card was taken on the James River and is a replica of the Godspeed, one of three ships to land on Jamestown Island.
